[Tiger Woods at the 10th hole yesterday]
Washingtonians have been coming up with some wild excuses to get out of work and attend the AT&T National Golf Tournament at Congressional Country Club, which started yesterday and ends tomorrow. With a purse of $6.5 million, the stakes are high, but highest for Tiger Woods, who is still overcoming "that incident" and is the host of the tour.
The AT&T National is one of only five tournaments given "invitational" status by the PGA Tour. It returns to Congressional after a two-year break at Aronimink Golf Club.
The most coveted tickets grant access to the Grey Goose VIP tent, which includes food by celebrity chef Jose Andres. Another coveted area is in the Congressional Clubhouse, which only allows access to club members and guests (with a competitive selection process and super high initiation and annual membership fees, it is very difficult to be a member of 'Congo').
We spotted: Grant Allen, Annie Brady, Mary Christopher, Krista Johnson, Mikaela Joseph, Katherine Kennedy, Diana Minshall, and Josie Taylor.
