Start saving up! Ron and Cheryl Hubbard are selling their 27,000 square-foot chateau in Clifton, Virginia. The couple is citing that the maintance of the three story, seven bedroom, nine baths estate is too much to handle. Shocking!
The five acre manse seems like something out of Downton Abby or a Jane Austen novel instead of a nice humble home in suburbia. What ever happened to the simple white picket fence, two car garage, and a nice backyard for the kids to play wiffle ball? Well, it seems that we're trading in that American dream for a fever fantasy of Liberace or Marie Antoinette with indoor swimming pools and in-home art galleries. But don't feel greedy about buying this house. Who cares that this amount of money can feed an unimaginable amount of people around the globe! The Hubbards designed the home with several green features. The roof is made of recycled tires while the left-over excavated rock was combined to make the driveway. What ever helps you sleep at night!
The Hubbards certainly didn't skimp on the interiors, either. With five fireplaces (but capable of adding up to 8 more) and floor-to-ceiling bookcases, the house is anything but ordinary. The Egyptian Room features Louis XV and XVI reproductions of gold and marble furniture. Some would call it over-the-top, but we prefer extravagant. If you got it, you better flaunt it!
If you or someone you know is in the market of being a fool buying a house, check out more photos and place an offer on the palatial wonder! The agent must be salivating over this commission.
