Summer Like a President

Ahhh summertime, the season of orange push-up pops, pool parties, lazy beach days and what else, the summer vacation.  As the Obamas enjoy their summer vacation in Martha's Vineyard, despite the crummy weather, we thought it might be nice to take a trip down memory lane and tour the spots where other Presidents have chosen to get their much needed R&R.

President George W. Bush, often lashed at for the number of vacations he took or golf games he fit in, preferred his Crawford, Texas ranch when it was time to get away.  We think Texas in the summer might be a bit muggy for us, but hey, the hat looks great.

During office, President Clinton vacationed in the Hamptons, Martha's Vineyard and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Lookin' good Bill!

Poppa Bush, President George H.W. Bush, enjoyed going up to his family home in Kennebunkport, Maine.  Notice the name of the boat...a forewarning to the subsequent administration?

For those who scowl every time a President goes on vacation, this fact might be of interest: The longest recorded vacation taken by a President was James Madison, in 1816, who went ahead and took four months off.
