Other details: On Saturday, February 28, The Greater Washington Heart Ball (#DCHeartBall) took on a French theme at the Mandarin Oriental hotel. The big, black-tie affair rounded out the American Heart Month activities raising $1,186,000 to benefit lifesaving research and American Heart Association education. Heart After dark brought together more than 500 of the region's most prominent physician, corporate, health care, and community leaders is hosted by 2015 Chair, Kay Kapoor, President of AT&T Government Solutions. The evening included, live and silent auctions, dinner, dancing and special presentations to honor United States Military doctors and nurses (retired and active) through the Heart Heroes program presented by CGI. Honored guest, Chelsea Clinton gave a rousing speech on her personal experience with heart disease in her family. The event ended with the official after-party, and kept the festivities going until 1am.
