DC has a reputation of being this bustling political hub with nothing to really offer in the fashion realm. What's it like being a designer in this town?

ERIKA: The way I think I fit into D.C. is that my aesthetic which is easy-to-wear, versatile, and transitional. Contrary to popular belief, there is a fashion crowd here and people do care about style and want to express themselves in a different way besides three piece suits. You can wear a pencil skirt, but play it up with exposed hardware and a little slip. There are definitely edgier pieces like a crop top and a full print maxi that are riskier. Are there any advantages of being based here in comparison to other major cities? ERIKA: I think DC is a very receptive city. People care about what young people are doing and what the creatives are doing. Every day there is more interest in what the creative community is bringing to DC.
