Tickets for the heavily anticipated festival sold out in less than ten minutes when they went on sale in February. Those who didn't score tickets have no need to worry though -- there are still plenty of lager-filled opportunities. Many of the Savor brewers are hosting beer dinners, tastings and meet-and-greets. Here's a rundown of the best of the week:
Sunday, May 30: Birreria Paradiso beer director Greg Jasgur brought back eight different beers from his trip to Pleasantville, NY. The rare-in-DC beers are available for purchase at Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle while supplies last.
Wednesday, June 2: Beer's from Munster, Indiana's award-winning Three Floyds brewery will be available at the Brickskeller. The eight brews will be on hand while guests get commentary from owner/brewer Nick Floyd and brewer Barnaby Struve. Tickets are $35 from lovethebeer.com. Thursday, June 3: Straight from the Brickskeller tasting, the Three Floyds brewers host a pair of beer dinners at Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown. The four-course, seven-beer dinners begin at 6:30 and 9. This is for the hardcore connoisseurs - lightweights need not apply. Call for reservations.
Friday, June 4: Head down to Birreria Paradiso for Meet the Brewers Night. No cover charge, no chaos - from 7 to 10, guests can check out beers from Southampton to Ommagang.
Saturday, June 5: On Savor's big day, Greg Koch of Stone Brewing Company is holding a pre-festival lunch at Rustico. Try some of Stone's ales between 11:30 and 2 pm. This is the last big thing before the main event.
Sunday, June 6: Recuperate from Savor's big night with a bruch at Pizzeria Paradiso. The four-course, six-beer meal will begin at noon and cost precisely $60 (tax and tip included). Brewery reps will be on hand to discuss the brews.
We sincerely wish all of DC's an easy recovery after what is sure to be an amazing, booze-filled festival.
