As all Mac owning DC residents know, there is not an Apple store in the District. Any time they experience problems, 202 Mac-users have to shlep out to Bethesda, Clarendon, or (god forbid) Tysons Corner. But come 5 PM Friday afternoon, all that will change as Apple finally opens its first DC site on Georgetown's M Street.
After a number of failed attempts to get approval for its site plans, Apple managed to submit a design scheme that would not compromise the space it will soon call its first home in the District. The Old Georgetown Board, notoriously protective of its historical cobblestones and store fronts, is finally confident that it and Apple will live happily ever after.
While the M Street site missed the iPad hype--thanks goodness: can you imagine what the traffic would have been like?!--it will open in time to welcome the newest iPhone update, iPhone G4, which tech-nerd blogs claim could occur as early as the end of this month.
