Saturday evening, hundreds of the DC philanthropic community came out to celebrate man’s best friend at the Washington Humane Society’s 25th Annual Bark Ball. Held at the Washington Hilton, this black tie gala was a barking good time!
As the only congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States, this event was both an excellent fundraising opportunity and great exposure for the society that cares for about 30,000 animals annually. And as part of the animal-friendly festivities, canine companions were also on the guest list!
Following a reception, guests participated in an extensive silent auction and hors d’oeuvres for both people and pets. Once seated in the grand ballroom, guests dined while being treated to a live auction emceed by DC’s own ABC 7 reporter, Scott Thuman. However, the highlight of the night was the doggy runway show, showcasing a few of the many precious pooches that are offered for adoption at the Humane Society’s rescue shelter.
It was puppy love at first sight for many new dog owners!
We spotted: Nick Cafritz, Max Kirschenbaum, Britt McHenry, and Dr. Katy Nelson.
