H Street NE Bars Are So Neighborly

    Recently, one of the original H Street NE corridor watering holes, The Argonaut, caught fire.  In the early hours of the morning, the H Street and Maryland Ave NE corner joint was blazing.  And judging by the out-pouring of Tweets and the Rock & Roll Hotel happy hour benefit, people are doing everything they can to help restore the Argonaut to its former self.

    Wednesday night, Argonaut supporters flocked to drink, mingle, reminisce and plot the re-opening of the Argonaut.

    A silent auction, donations and proceeds from booze and food raised around $10,000 toward restoration and other expenses that arise when you own a business that is entirely shut down.

    The event attracted both the tall and the small

    Which can mean one of two things: either these parents are getting their kids starting on the sauce way too early, or the Argonaut is a real family, neighborhood joint that will be supported for the duration of its rehab.
