Reese Witherspoon Presents Avon Communication Awards At The Gaylord

Yesterday, Reese Witherspoon presented awards to global leaders in the fight against domestic violence at the Avon Communication Awards, held yesterday at the Gaylord at National Harbor. Reese is an honorary chairman for the Avon Foundation, a foundation that focuses on a wide variety of causes that affect women. 

The awards are a part of the World Conference of Women's Shelters; a source says Bill Clinton stopped by the conference today.

Also in attendance at the awards yesterday were Natasha Bedingfield, Andrea Jung (chairman & CEO of Avon), Sue Else (president of the National Network to End Domestic Violence), Carol Kurzig (president of the Avon Foundation), Henrique Duarte, Delta Goodrem, Lea Salonga, Theresa Balayon, and Lisa King.

Reese Witherspoon said:

"As a mother, a daughter, and a sister, I cannot accept the fact that one in three women will be a victim of violence in her lifetime. I’m proud to be the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation for Women, an organization that has the conscience and courage to tackle the quiet epidemic of violence against women around the world. The Avon Communications Awards I have the privilege to present demonstrate that violence against women is a global tragedy affecting women of every class, race and ethnicity."
