I've been in these so called "Hamptons" now for two weeks, and haven't yet visited a vineyard. Growing up in northern California, I like to think I have certain wine standards, and don't want to waste my time at a sub-par establishment. And therein lies the problem: there are too damn many vineyards for me to just pick one.
Assuming that this readership has both vino and vineyard acumen, I ask for your recommendations as to where is the smart vineyard to start. Any and all advice is welcome. But remember, you're up against Napa, and the entire integrity of Long Island wine country is resting on your shoulders.
