#6: Cruise-ing Along

View on YouTube Tom Cruise: The most recent Lip Sync Battle certainly stands up to its predecessors. Yeah, we’re still not sure if we trust Tom Cruise, but dang, can he sync. Starting off by trying to prove that he is still young, Cruise sings “I Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd. He shows off his movie star status by using many camera angles to his advantage. But, come on, was the face-and-body-touching really necessary? But apparently what was necessary was Cruise pulling out “Old Time Rock and Roll”….or so we hoped. Cruise teased the audience with the opening piano riff and his patented slide. But instead, he handed his sport coat to Jimmy and pulled out “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.” Again the question is asked: Does he really need to touch himself so much? Putting that aside, Cruise delivers a compelling duet all on his own. Honestly, Cruise brought it, and he brought it good. Jimmy, obviously star struck in Cruise’s presence (isn’t Jimmy the biggest star yet?), still manages to deliver with “Under Cover of the Night” by the Rolling Stones. His extensive knowledge of Mick Jagger’s dance moves comes into play here, and his audience, especially those of the female persuasion, cheers for his wiggling hips. Following Cruise’s one-man duet, Jimmy is overwhelmed, but gives a gift to the audience: “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling,” by the Righteous Brothers. He pulls Cruise in to serenade an audience member. With her hand held and kissed by Cruise, and her face caressed by Jimmy, that audience member undoubtedly had the best day of her entire life, and all FalPals will forever despise her.
