Judge it as you will, but Sundance holds its glamorous place as the year's first film festival. It's not our answer to Cannes, exactly, but for decades now, freezing in Utah in early January has been the greatly preferred alternative to freezing anywhere else.

This year has been no different, with the arrival of hotly anticipated features like Matthew Chapman's "The Ledge," Sean Durkin's "Martha Marcy May Marlene," and Sam Levinson's "The Untitled Sam Levinson Project."
