In an unfortunate age of Martin Shkreli, billionaire bros have to do good to stand out. At least someone's out there trying to restore our faith in humanity. Napster giant and founding president of Facebook, Sean Parker (better known as Justin Timberlake in The Social Network) announced today that he's donating $250 million to six cancer centers nationwide to fund immunotherapy research and treatments.
The money is also backing the new Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy in San Francisco, where "high risk" ideas that wouldn't be funded by the government can be delved into. Parker told USA Today that to make immunotherapy a front-line treatment "would change the whole cost of care downstream."
Phew, what a guy. That Alexandra Lenas is one lucky gal.
