Beer pong, like communal bathrooms and Jagerbombs, is one of those things most people try to leave behind in college. But there's no harm in an occasional return to re-racking and intricate bounce rules, especially when a 4-night stay in Las Vegas and a $50,000 prize is at stake. Those intrigued should indulge their inner fratboy and head down to Town Tavern tonight for the World Series of Beer Pong Satellite Tournament.
The tournament is organized by www.bpong.com, an alarmingly earnest website created by "lovers of the sport" and dedicated to "serving the needs of players and the beer pong community at large." (One inaccuracy: the site makes no distinction between beer pong and Beirut, although I was always told that the former was played with paddles and the latter without.) Registration begins at 7pm and the tournament starts at 7:30pm. There is a $50 entry fee for each team. That's a small price to pay for the chance of playing in (and, for shady liability reasons that require it, staying at) The Flamingo.
