The Surf Lodge saw its usual crowd of hipsters, socialites, locals, and families turn out in droves for this past sunday's Rodriguez concert. The elusive rock/folk stalwart (he's been playing since the mid sixties), sounds like a trippier, often very political version of Bob Dylan with dashes of José Feliciano: the words are bitter, the delivery and melodies sweet. Sunday, he and his band played to the setting sun, a dozing dog, and the dancing feet of their Hypnotiq-fueled, sun kissed audience, one of whom was inexplicably sporting a tiara. Hmmph.
