You Should Know: Artist Ryan McGinness
Ryan McGinness is an immensely talented artist, with a vast collection of intricately beautiful works and installations. The surf and skate culture of Virginia Beach of Ryan's upbringing provides much inspiration for his work which includes paintings, sculptures, environments and "graphic drawings which use the visual language of public signage, corporate logos, and contemporary iconography." McGinness, an Andrew Carnegie Scholar got his start at the Andy Warhol Museum as a curatorial assistant during college. From Amsterdam to Madrid and NYC, Ryan's work has made an impression throughout the world, utilizing a groundbreaking aesthetic that allows him to share personal experiences. Ryan also has an extensive collection of published catalogues, books, and monographs featuring his art. Ryan has been one of our favorite artists to follow and someone that we think you need to know!
