Consider alternative transportation
Are you going someplace in the Northeast corridor for Thanksgiving? It's never fun to jam yourself into Penn Station during the holidays, but you may actually be saving yourself a lot of time and headaches by riding the rail instead of wasting away in JFK. Plus, train stations are almost always near the center of towns and cities, meaning you can often cut out the trip to and from the airport.
