What are some of your go-to ways to break the ice on video? What can you do if there's an awkward silence?
Silence on virtual dates can be awkward, but there are definitely ways to avoid any tension. For one, try and use something in the background of their screen to start up a new conversation. Maybe they have something that catches your eye that you can ask questions about. Ask them for a tour of their home or to show you the view. Do they have a pet or roommates? Have a few of these up your sleeve before you start the date so you can jump to them if the conversation starts to go sour or stop. And if you opt for my advice on wearing no pants or PJ pants to settle nerves, you could also use that as an ice breaker as well. "Want to know what I'm actually wearing below this screen...."
