Party brunches, bottle poppin', and large celebrations may be off the table this summer (at least, they should be) but that doesn't mean you can't indulge in a sparkling toast or two at home. Thanks to The Sip, you can get a bubbly bash in a box delivered straight to your door.
Inspired by their monthly girls' nights and passion for champagne, founders Erica Davis and Catherine Carter wanted a taste beyond the big Champagne brands, but discovering new sparkling wines, and getting their hands on them, was harder than they expected. When they couldn't find a go-to for Champagne discovery, they decided to do what all good innovators do - create their own. Thus, The Sip was born.
The affordable subscription service ships two to three mini bottles of bubbly from regions across the world, including Napa, Reims and Epernay, to make fine sparkling wine (and the joy we all know it brings) accessible to all. For all you connoisseurs out there, each box also comes with a tasting guide to learn the history, pour, and best pairings of every selection. And if you're in need of the perfect gift? There's a themed box for that.
As women in the wine industry, a space all too often known for its gate-keeping and overwhelmingly white, male old guard, Erica and Catherine are carrying on the tradition of the female trailblazers who actually led to the sparkling wine we enjoy today (Madame Clicquot, Louise Pommery, Lily Bollinger, and Mathilde Perrier) while committing to a mission of diversity within their own company and beyond. Cheers to that.

The branding is so fun and chic. Did you set out to make it femme-focused?
We wanted to build a brand we saw ourselves in and that helped other women understand the world of sparkling wine. So in a way yes, we created a female focused brand in our image, but all are welcome of course. Erica actually wrote a blog entitled “Brand New State of Mind” about this on our site that gives more detail.
Part of your mission is diversity & empowerment. Do you think that the wine industry is finally making space?
It’s still a work in progress but for us we created our own space in the industry. And instead of asking for a seat at the table, we are working on building our own.
When we can finally get back out into the world again, where's the first place you'll be sipping some bubbly?
Napa!
How have you both been keeping up the sparkling energy at home?
It’s tough but we find ways to stay energetic by going on weekly hikes, talking to our Sippers on our weekly IG live “Thirsty Thursday” and lots of COFFEE & CHAMPAGNE!
Do you have any favorite Champs-based cocktails you've been mixing up?
We believe everyone should have a signature cocktail. For Erica that is a French 75 and For Catherine it’s a classic mimosa.
