Sorry guys, this might be the one bottle of booze you can't order in through Drizly. But if your bar cart is in need of a serious pièce de résistance, you can get your hands on this very special bottle of cognac - just make sure you have up to $75,000 in your wallet.
Notable alcohol aficionado Jay-Z has announced that his cognac brand, D’USSE, will be auctioning off an ultra-rare bottle of the 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition collection with Sotheby's as a part of the auction house's Finest & Rarest Spirits sale this March.
The very fancy Grande Champagne Cognac has aged for decades in a single barrel at France's storied Château de Cognac, maturing under the expert eye of D’USSE's Cellar Master Michel Casavecchia.
The liquid itself, which Casavecchia describes as "woody at the start, with a long finish of stewed fruits, a touch of leather, and cigar box," is worth $10K, but the exclusive "Bottle No. 1" of the collection features opulent details like 24-Karat gold foil and a 12-cut crystal diamond decanter design, along with the original signature of Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. No wonder they're expecting to pull in anywhere from $25,000 to $75,000 from the sale.
The bidding starts on March 1st on Sotheby's website and will continue through March 13th, with proceeds from the bottle benefitting The Shawn Carter Foundation.
Bonne chance, thirsty bidders!
