Part two of that question - where are some great spots in NYC to meet people?
It matters what kind of person you are/what age range you are in! If you are fresh out of college and want to meet the finance bro, Common Ground or Hotel Chantelle might be a good bet. If you are looking for that high-end person, membership clubs like Soho House, Spring Place, Zero Bond, Casa Cipriani are becoming super popular due to the curated crowd. Brooklyn hipster? Pony Boy, Nowadays, Good Room, Public Records. Someone who will pay your taxes? The Mark Bar or Soho Grand Bar... I could really go on and on.
If you aren't a bar person, the West Side Highway, sports leagues, and I've heard a lot of suggestions on my podcast, but the most notable might be Whole Foods (Tribeca and East Houston seem to be the most popular).
