I always wanted to design shoes....which is why Christmas came a little early for me, after reading the article titled "If the Shoe Fits, Wear It. If Not, Design One That Does." in the Sunday Times yesterday. I've heard of tennis shoe sellers like Nike and Vans giving customers the option of custom-designed sneaks, but I had no idea that this was available for fashion footwear. Apparently the Tupli store opened on Madison Avenue here in Manhattan by Kathy Myczowski and Tamara Chubinidze has been giving people the opportunity to design their own shoes specific to their individual taste and fit for quite sometime. However, at a starting price of $750 and with clients like Susan Sarandon, this isn't exactly a reasonable option for many. Which is why, when I read that Steve Madden had a similar option of designing your own shoe on their website, I was intrigued. There are more than 100,000 pairs available and range from only $90 to $170. You can go here to get started. If you are looking for a way to kill some time and like shoes, this is a perfect choice. I know from first hand experience as much of my Sunday night was wasted puttering around the site (for the record, I didn't even make a purchase, which makes me feel a little bit pathetic about the time I spent doing this!)
