The Winners, The Performances, And The Best & Worst Fashion At The 2011 Tony's

by Kirby Allison · June 13, 2011

Neil Patrick Harris did a show-stopping job as host during last night's Tony Awards. Hollywood stars Christie Brinkley and Brook Shield's dazzled; Kelsey Grammar stepped out with new wife, Katye Walsh; and Mormons showed they know how to clean up shop. It was certainly an exciting year for Broadway's finest. We take a look at the winners, performers, and the fashion.

    The Awards & Performances

Sutton Foster, a Tony favorite for years now, took home the statue for best actress in a leading role for her work on Anything Goes and also performed a number on stage.

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark did not receive any nominations since they did not open soon enough, though Bono attended the awards and Reeve Carney and Jennifer Damiano performed.

While the buzz was certainly about who would go home with an award, we couldn't help but notice these stage divas who busted out the glitter for last night's awards. It was a  trend of sparkles, with more than a few Broadway babes shining beyond the spotlight.

Catherine Zeta-Jones: In her first appearance since the star's battle with bipolar disorder, Zeta-Jones donned a long sleeved red Elie Saab dress covered in sparkles. And more than her dress glowed, she seemed to be in great spirits!

Tammy Blanchard: The How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying actress and Tony nominee absolutely stunned in this royal blue sequined mermaid Edition gown by Georges Chakra. She may have not walked away with a statue, but her red carpet ensemble certainly wowed!

Patina Miller: Playing a diva and fashionista in the Tony nominated Sister Act, Miller channeled her stage character, Deloris Van Cartier-the role for which she earned a Tony Nomination-in this backless sequined snake skin gown. The gown is by Naeem Khan.

Jennifer Damiano: The Spider-Man Turn off the Dark star wore this Reem Acra gown from the 2011 resort collection. At the young age of 20, this actress was very age appropriate in the green dazzler and paired with a sleek up-do and red lips, she channeled a look very reminiscent of Anne Hathaway.

    Not So Dazzling..

Whoopi Goldberg: Yikes. We are not cheering "whoopi!" with this, umm, show stopper. The producer of the Tony nominated Sister Act seemed to have raided the costume closet of a production of Hamlet crossed with Saturday Night Fever-velvet draped paisley with a conquistador hat is never a good summer look.
