While water is not something most of us worry about, over 780 million people (that's 1 in 7!) lack access to clean water. Water.org is a non-profit organization, co-founded by Matt Damon, helping people in the developing world get access to safe water and sanitation, and on March 22 there will be a World Water Day Gala to help this amazing cause! The World Water Day Gala includes a VIP reception, a culinary taste-a-round with treats prepared by more than a dozen chefs, wine, art, and music (from composer and pianist Quentin Fielding). Hosts and honorary chairs of the event include William Waterway (Marks), a pioneer in the world water movement and award-winning author who's been featured in many films, including "Flow"; Gabriel Bol Deng, one of Sudan's "Lost Boys" and the founder and director of Hope for Ariang; and Mariama Mounir Camara-Petrolawicz, a model and founder of the There Is No Limit Foundation.

Why World Water Day Concert? Every year, 3.4 million people die from water-, sanitation-, and hygiene-related causes, which is not surprising considering 780 million people go without clean water and 2.5 billion people don't have access to a toilet. Even more frightening is that every 21 seconds a child dies from a water-related illness. Women around the world collectively spend 200 million hours each day collecting water. Water.org works to provide access to clean water and sanitation to families and communities in the developing world, and the World Water Day Concert funds the organization while building a world-wide water movement.
