There are few things in this world that are as perfect and American as a grilled cheese. The two slices of bread and warm gooey cheese are the ultimate comfort food and everyone's favorite childhood snack. But recently, in the New York culinary scene, the grilled cheese has grown up. To showcase the art of the grilled cheese, Openhouse, for the third year running, is bringing us the ultimate taste-off for cheese connoisseurs, The Big Cheesy. For one weekend, they will butter and griddle sandwiches for more then 500 New York foodies who will elect their favorites with marked ping pong balls.
Participating restaurants and food trucks include: Keith Klein’s Milk Truck, Lucy’s Whey, Melt Shop, Murray’s Cheese Bar, Say Cheese UWS, Sons of Essex and ‘wichcraft. Sixpoint Brewery will provide Sweet Action, Bengali Tiger, Crisp and Righteous Ale for the beer selection.
On March 23rd and 24th, from 12PM-7PM you can taste, sample, and sniff as many grilled cheese creations as your heart desires for the price of a $25 ticket, or you can win one of four pairs of tickets right here!
