The Best Dressed Guestlist: Week of November 5th

by KATHERINE NEIFELD · November 5, 2010

Everyone knows that the best part about going out is getting dressed up, and the attendees at the parties Guest of a Guest covers usually do this with aplomb. Here are the people (and outfits) who made an impression on us this week. -

First Place: A Literal and Literally Accessorized Lady In Red at 127 Hours Premiere

Sometimes the quiet chic of understated subtlety just isn't enough. It's likely one of those times is at a Gucci-hosted James Franco premiere when everyone, even Terry Richardson, is staring only and continuously at James. That's why this Lisa Maria Falcone merits a spot on our list. Even If the trompe l'oeil red lace of her minidress weren't bold enough to capture your attention, you will certainly be sated by her accouterments: rhinestones, woolly cherry tomato armwarmers keeping muscled guns frostbite free and dyed-to-match booties at least three full sizes too large. Gauche glam, who knew?

Second Place: Pretty Pretty Princess at Library Lions

Sometimes a girl just wants to put on a pretty pink gown and go to a ball. We suspect that's the case for one particular partygoer, Hilary Gumbel, wife of Bryant.

Her fuchsia presence at the New York Public Library benefit was marked by a lovely elegance: the classic lines of her frock enveloping her enviable figure, the contrasting jade cabochon accent of her earrings.   We're also partial to her I-know-I'm-serene smirk.  Bravo, blonde celeb wife literary goddess!

Third Place: Out of this Orbit Earrings at MOMA's Jazz Interlude

Now THIS is statement accessorizing done correctly.  You really can't wear shoulder-length fringed feather duster earrings the color of a drawing room done up in Laduree celadon without keeping the rest of your ensemble simple (read: all black, with no embellishment whatsoever.) Obsessing over her execution... and a little Laduree celadon with envy.

Honorable Mention: Camion Platt as Camion Platt

An architect is writing a book, so why he shouldn't he look like a priest?  At his book launch on Wednesday, Mr. Platt turned out ultra dapper to promote his new tome, Made to Order.  We're loving the pinstriped cheongsam concoction and the little white turned up collar peeking out just so.

Honorable Mention: Girly Girl at Gen Art

It takes a lot of chutzpah or a least a little bit of irony to show up to the gritty avant garde Gen Art Benefit Resurrection dressed as if for a tea party. Loving the slicked back hair and metallic lace accents, too.
