Seeing as our girl certainly knew her way around a closet, it should come as no surprise that Diana's dresses were coveted - in the most literal of terms. As in, Christie's hosted an actual auction of 79 of her gowns to benefit the Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Fund and the AIDS Crisis Trust in June 1997, raising $3.25 million. Although she wasn't present for the auction itself, she did appear at a VIP reception at the New York auction house ahead of the sale, attended by the likes of Anna Wintour, Joan Rivers, and Kate Moss.
