Not going to lie, when it comes to skiing, we've always preferred the warm, cozy, and most definitely cheesy après part of the whole thing. Lucky for us, we can cut out the snowy middleman and dive straight into some wine and fondue at West Village bar and eatery, The Lavaux.
A stylish Alpine escape inspired by Switzerland's French-speaking Lavaux region, the spot specializes in Swiss wine and cuisine, serving up everything from raclette to charcuterie boards, to, of course, a variety of fondue (black truffle, anyone?).
As for the best - and most Instagrammable - seat in the house? That would obviously be the vintage gondola converted into an intimate two-seater booth, complete with snuggly blankets that'll warm you up if, for some reason, all that melty cheese doesn't. Offering the ski lift experience without the terrifying vertigo, the table is certainly a patron favorite, so be sure to reserve it well in advance. Not that it would be the end of the world if you dipped yourself into a fondue coma at any other table in the place.
Skip the slopes and save on a plane ticket - the perfect après-ski destination is just a stroll away!
