Hudson Clearwater

Can you keep a secret? God knows we can't. In these days of crazy promotion and social media presence, you've got to love a place like Hudson Clearwater, a place that continues to skim by, head always above water, but just under the radar. Hidden right off of Hudson on Morton Street, it's not a place you'd ever really stumble upon, but have to know. Behind a red brick wall, and forest green door is hidden a most magical patio, with steps leading up to an equally lovely dining room and bar bustling with your fellow in-the-know crew.

The minimal to pretty much non-existent signage definitely weeds out those who don't belong, and the bi-level indoor layout lends itself to people watching perfectly. Best to steal an afternoon some weekday, and loaf about. In the West Village, random weekday hours are the best for befriending those who have somehow eluded the usual 9 to 5 life -  i.e. models, actors, writers, the wealth up the nose money. Grab something small, say a croissant, and draw it out over a 3 or so hour period. Very chic.
