Txikito
Our next location takes us to the Basque country, that somewhat mysterious region of Spain that is home to some of the country's most culturally distinctive and diverse cuisine. Successfully planting her footprint in the ever expanding NYC tapas scene with Tia Pol and El Quinto Pino, chef Alexandra Raji continues to expand her Spanish Chelsea empire. Come here with your more adventurous dining companions, and work your way through the extensive menu of exotically spelled Basque finger foods.
We recommend starting with the one bite canapes of shredded chorizo and little quail eggs and melt in your mouth Jamon croquettes and moving on to heartier options like the squid "pasta" with sweet onions and garlic and the crispy suckling pig special if it's available. Wash it all down with a bottle of Txakoli, a refreshingly crisp and effervescent white wine that is uniquely Basque and drinks far too easily.
