Devonté Hynes Perfoms the World Premiere of his Musical Score to Palo Alto

Where: BRIC House Other details: Last night BRIC House hosted a special screening of the film Palo Alto, featuring a live score performed by Devonte Hynes. The Blood Orange singer and mulit-instrumentalist created a well-received score for Gia Coppola's debut film that fell in line with the sounds that made up his 2013 album Cupid Deluxe. The tone was far more subdued, however, creating a distinct atmosphere for the coming-of-age film about sex, defiance, and unrest in suburban youth culture. Every sound was punctuated as Hynes and his team of musicians meticulously played every note, especially bringing out the character of the film during extended interval shots that showed the characters doing routine activities like riding in a car or occupying time while bored at home. The film itself was met with many laughs and applause by the crowd. While it's already considered one of the best films of the year, the live performance by the renowned artist only made the experience more captivating.
