Thursday Night Party Roundup: Rum Tasting, Chair Testing, Record Scratching

Last night, Tasting Table took Thirsty Thursday to a whole new level with a rum tasting event, Humanscale offered up the best seats in town for their laid-back event in the Flatiron, and over at the W Hotel, people got to chill out, listen to DJ sets, and mentally prepare for a weekend of...more parties? Hope so!-

This New York City heat has been taking a toll on all of us, which is why last night guests escaped to Tasting Table's Born To Rum event at Cienfuegos.  This late summer cool-down was an exotic get away with tropical fruit punch bowls in bright reds and yellow-oranges.  Rum was the inspiration of the night and made its way into every cool beverage served.  Following the sent of rum through a sandwich shop, then by shimmying up an unadorned metal staircase, guests knew they had made  it when the spicy sounds of Latin music filled their ears.

The vibe of the night definitely was cheery with the cascading chandeliers from the two toned sea foam green ceiling.  For those who needed to satisfy their hunger, there were finger-food versions of Carteles' Cubano sandwich, with house-roasted pork and garlicky mustard. To get a heads start on working off the food, some even broke out into an occasional salsa dancing (keeping Dirty Dancing Havana Nights at the back of their minds, we're sure.)

Is it bad that we want to be drinking rum punch now?

Humanscale Corporation is a private company categorized under Computer Peripherals Manufacturers and located in the Flatiron district, and known for revamping classic design office furniture to create new, sustainable, and high-tech state of the art pieces.

Comfort was the theme for the evening as guests  played musical chairs, testing out the luxurious office chairs.  If only every work place was as laid back as this evenings events, feet kicked back and a cold one in their hands, business was the last thing on their minds!

W New York held their summer music series Symmetry Spins at their very own Oasis Bar last night. Guests came together to feel the groove of the exclusive DJ sets and to lounge in an appropriately Earthy-sophisticated atmosphere, finding an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of life outside the hotel lounge.

There were exclusive DJ sets by Resident STADJ Model's DJ Cassie Stevens and DJ Marybeth. There was also a special live performance by New York-based electro duo The Golden Filter. Guests enjoyed complimentary sips and free nibbles throughout the night as the beautiful people spun crowd favorites.
