One Organizer Speaks
The chaos of this past weekend has not deterred one self-proclaimed "organizer" from continuing to host the gatherings. A party promoter named David Ortiz (who, of course, calls himself "The Shaman"), told the press, "We're going to be here every single day. Just like the police are, we are too. Because this is as much our home as to the other residents that actually live here." Invoking the Beastie Boys' famous anthem, he added that it's their "First Amendment right" to gather at a public space - and, therefore, to party.
It's gonna be a long summer, folks.
