If you're looking for a particularly sophisticated and culturally relevant way to spend your evening this weekend, look no further than the stage at City Center.
Prima ballerina and New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck will be curating a visually invigorating dance program as the inaugural curator of Artists at the Center, a new series launching at the music and dance hub.
"I'm very thrilled that City Center asked me to start off this series. It's a tremendous honor," Tiler told us. "I wanted to show New Yorkers things they couldn't see if they were to come over to the New York City Ballet and see me dance. We're doing a fusion of styles and there's a mix of ballet, tap, and multidisciplinary dancers, so I think it should be very interesting."
Tiler has assembled some of the most celebrated talent from the worlds of dance, choreography, and music, including ballerina Isabella Boylston, tap dance star Michelle Dorrance, choreographers Alonzo King and William Forsythe, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, to produce a completely unique set of performances.
"New York audiences have seen so much, so I wanted to give them something exciting and fresh and something they haven't seen before," she explained.
Her own choreography in Thousandth Orange, along with The Barre Project, a piece created by Tiler and choreographer William Forsythe over Zoom (!!!), will be among the anticipated lineup of premieres.
Needless to say, the chic social set of devoted dance patrons have already started buzzing about the program, which runs for four performances from March 4th to March 6th, so there's no doubt you'll be in stylish company.
