Attend Block Parties and BBQs

WaterslideWho doesn't love a good block party or Sunday afternoon BBQ in the summer? Try these out:
  1. Summer Streets, Lafayette St, 4th Ave, and Park Ave between the Brooklyn Bridge and E 72nd St, NYC - On Sat August 1st, 8th, and 15th from 7AM-1PM, the Department of Transportation blocks off 7 miles of city streets for this annual event, which includes activities such as a waterslide, a zipline, musical performances, and so much more.
  2. Pig Island, Erie Basin Park Waterfront Red Hook, Brooklyn - for the 5th year in a row, 20 New York chefs including Heather Carlucci-Rodriguez of Print and Jacques Gautier of Palo Santo's, will turn 80 local pigs into delicious dishes like bacon sticky buns and pig's-head tacos. There will also be a lot of beer. Tickets are $60 in advance and $75 day-of for ages 12 and up, and the event is from 11:30-4 on September 12th.
