The Parade
What: New York City hosts the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the world, and also the oldest. Over 150,000 firefighters, policemen, bands, leprechauns, and drunks turn out yearly for the event, which attracts up to two million spectators.
The Parade begins at 11 am and typically lasts five to six hours. The route runs the length of Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 86th Street, passing both St. Patrick's Cathedral and the American Irish Historical Society. The largest crowds will be at the beginning of the parade route, so grab a spot above 66th Street, such as the steps of the Met, for better viewing.
When: March 16th, 11am-5pm
Where: Fifth Avenue, 44th Street - 86th Street
