Ukrainian Institute of America

This architectural gem on the corner of East 79th Street and Fifth Avenue dubbed the Harry F. Sinclair House is currently the location of the Ukrainian Institute of America, a nonprofit and social gathering place that promotes Ukrainian culture. And while there's plenty going on inside the 27-room, six-floor building, it's hard not to marvel at its lavish French Renaissance façade outside.

The Châteauesque manse was designed by C.P.H. Gilbert and built between 1897 and 1899 as the residence of businessman Isaac D. Fletcher. Following Fletcher, who bequeathed the property to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, residents included oil magnate Harry F. Sinclair and members of the Stuyvesant family.
