Hailing Taxis and Riding the Subway at 2am
Ah, good ole NYC transportation. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make designated taxi stands at seemingly undisclosed locations throughout one European city was neither a winner nor a native New Yorker. Taxi! Flailing hand in air. Will it work better if I put both hands up? There is nothing like the rush of stopping traffic when you see an unoccupied, on duty taxi heading towards you on 6th. Trust me, even when Uber seems like the better option, or when it is pouring and the yellow buggers seem to have drowned with the rats, you’ll miss 'em when you’re gone. And when you realize not all subways run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and fix any derailments before you even knew there was an issue, you’ll be praying on the L train in gratitude.
