The Murder of Nancy Pfister

In 2014, beloved Aspen staple and a member of one of its oldest and most influential families, Nancy Pfister, was found dead in her home. It was a grisly scene - she was found in her closet, bludgeoned with a hammer, and wrapped with an electrical cord. It was a mysterious case, and police kept an eye on her good friend Kathy Carpenter, who discovered her body, as well as Pfister's tenants, Trey Styler and Nancy Styler, who had been refusing to pay rent for months. Investigators determined that at least two people were involved in the murder, but in the end, Trey Styler, a weak and sickly man, confessed, saying he acted alone in order to get his wife off the hook. Just a year later, Nancy Styler wrote a book about her "husband's involvement" in the murder, but it was a little too O.J. Simpson's If I Did It for everyone's tastes.
