At the center of perhaps one of the biggest socialite scandals of the 20th century was, of course, none other than Patty Hearst. The granddaughter of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army, then joined her captors in their cause, robbing a bank with them in 1974.
