Using Her Platform To Speak Out

Phoebe also recently made waves after penning an incredibly articulate and insightful essay for Vogue on the state of reproductive rights and care, and the global implications of the Supreme Court decision.

In it, she revealed that she had just spent time in Rwanda, working with teen moms through Partners In Health, and considering her revelations on public health both in the U.S. and abroad. She also pointed to her mother as the person who inspired her passion for taking action.

"When you’re Melinda’s daughter, it’s easy to be passionate about reproductive health. My mom is my hero. She’s a brilliant reformer who travels around the world advocating for gender equality," she wrote.

"When I started college last year, I wanted to become an advocate, like my mom. So I tried to learn as much as I could about making policy, finding the best data, gathering the best ideas, and educating the right people... Public health—especially women’s health—requires learning about power, and how to wield it. It’s not just about what to do, but also about how to get it done."

Clearly, this girl is going places - and she's definitely prepared to take on her parents' legacy of using her privilege for good.
