Osteria La Baia
The mayor's standing reservation at Midtown eatery Osteria La Baia has prompted its own Gray Lady investigation and some questions about his political ethics. The upscale Italian eatery is helmed by his friends, restaurateur brothers Robert and Zhan Petrosyants, who seem to have an "in" with the former police officer despite their past legal issues (money-laundering, tax evasion, the usual). Mayor Adams praised the spot after attending its opening bash last year, and can frequently be found holding court long after closing time. It's been his go-to for dinner meetings with Bill de Blasio and Andrew Cuomo and his presence there occasionally makes its way to social media.
Of course, while everyone's allowed to have their favorite restaurant, his so-called "free advertising" of the place, along with the mystery of who pays his bill, has raised a few eyebrows.
