Design Cares Shops For St. Jude Children's Hospital

Last Thursday, Design Cares kicked off with a cocktail soiree and shopping event to introduce Design Cares 2009 and raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On the Upper East Side, champagne flowed and hors d’oeuvres were passed, thanks to L’ybane restaurant, as guests shopped for holiday ornaments, “Give Thanks” t-shirts and Kate Spade totes designed especially for St. Jude at the St. Jude Gift Shop.  An impressive raffle giveaway included generous gifts from Diane Von Furstenberg, Stella McCartney, Andrew Christian, DEX New York, and of course, tickets to St. Jude Design Cares in April 2009. Gift Bags by SARAR left everyone smiling with sleek cuff links and a store gift card with 5% of proceeds extended to St. Jude.  Shop these gifts, as well as specialty items designed by the children of St. Jude, HERE.

Event Co-chairs, Dawn Gallagher and Reynaldo Davis Carter spoke about what’s to come for Design Cares 2009: Kaleidoscope of Dreams, set to take place on April 30th 2009 at the Armory on 26th Street and Lexington Avenue. By their account, 2009 will truly be the year that Fashion Gives Back with a runway show and auction featuring the generous gown donations of designers, including Marc Jacobs Collection, Vera Wang, Maggie Norris Couture and Chado Ralph Rucci to name a few. Models of Hope, new for 2009, whereby notable models will have the opportunity to raise money for their runway-walk-a-thon for St. Jude, also received welcome reviews from an expectant crowd.
