2013 has undoubtedly been the year that art and pop culture have completed their synthesis within the general psyche, merging music with mirrored balls by Koons and performance art by Marina Abramovic (we're looking at you Lady Gaga and Jay-Z) and elevating its accessibility to the masses with the help of social media. #ArtSelfie became our favorite new tag on Instagram and "like"-lovers (and possibly art-lovers) waited hours for the chance to snap themselves in one of Yayoi Kusama's fantastical infinity rooms at David Zwirner. You may also remember that the New York art scene was shaken up this year by the likes of one very mysterious British street artist, not to mention the dozens of other major moments in art.
