Overview: Andre Balazs' East Village outlet of the famous Standard Hotel is slowly, but surely, becoming a force to be reckoned with. The beautiful building situated in Cooper Square is in a prime location (Acme, Lafayette, The Smile), and has already hosted major parties despite not having an official nightlife addition yet. Chez Andre below the hotel has drawn the kind of crowds you would expect from Andre Saraiva, and while the ground floor restaurant is currently being renovated, the penthouse has been home to highly exclusive events over the last year. Rumors have also swirled around about a club-sized space below the restaurant, and there are always rumors about the future of Chez Andre, so this is a place you'll want to stay on top of this fall. The artwork painted by Saraiva is not to be missed, and lends itself quite well to the Standard brand. Despite infrequent events, Chez Andre already feels established so our attention is on the rest of the hotel. Most recently in a string of parties at the penthouse was Daniel Arsham and Pharrell's art installation during NYFW.
