It's a nightlife battle royale and it looks like it'll be a good one. The ex-owner of the l-e-g-e-n-d-a-r-y Limelight nightclub, which you'll remember as THE ultimate party hub in New York for about a decade, until it became a suburban mall in 2010, has filed a lawsuit against the operators of the Dream Hotel. Peter Gatien, who has consistently retained The Limelight trademark, claims that Tao Group partners Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg are planning to open their own "Limelight" at Dream Hotel's Hollywood location. According to Gatien's lawyers, this is a “transparent attempt to build a new business based on misappropriations of Gatien’s Limelight brand recognition and deception of consumers.”
Rude! What's worse, Gatien has apparently known the two since they were teens, and Strauss even went to prom with Gatien's daughter. These nightlife CEOs ain't loyal.
