The Rebel Tenants
The occupants at the center of the Animal House-esque shenanigans include 30-year-old Kurt David, of Roslyn, who was arrested in the latest raid and charged with selling alcohol to minors and violating pandemic emergency restrictions against large gatherings.
In the lawsuit filed by the building's landlord, Kurt is named along with Jean Elbaum-David, who both signed a lease for the second and third floors of the building in January 2020 but haven't renewed their lease (or given up the space) since it expired on January 31st of this year.
"While restaurants and businesses everywhere are forced to close their doors in an effort to limit the spread of the virus, the defendants [have] essentially transferred the subject apartment into a nightclub, hosting illegal parties which are most definitely potential COVID-19 super spreaders," the court papers claim.
"The Landlord has been trying to stop the tenant(s) from holding these dangerous and illegal events for months," lawyers for the landlord, who is also seeking over $10,000 in damages, told the Post. "We are hopeful that our recent filing with the Supreme Court will help our efforts to end the tenant’s disruptive behavior once and for all."
