[Santos Party House celebrates New Years]

This week marked the first official week for us back on the scene.  With a little bit of tan still intact, we set off into the cold January air to help our fellow New Yorkers start off 2009 right.

We first spent some time looking at what New Year's Eve looked like in New York at the parties we missed out on like:

New Year's Eve at Santos Party House with Sophia Lamar and the Misshapes pouring up the bubbly;

Thompson Hotel's bash on the Lower East Side at their exclusive rooftop lounge, Above Allen;

The Ultimate NYE Slumber Party hosted by Scott Buccheit and Lydia Hearst;

New Year's Eve at Upstairs, The Final Act;

Catch-22 says goodbye to 2008;

Merkato 55 makes atypical night appearance followed by:

New Year's Eve at Bijoux;

Katy Perry rings in the New Year;

Open '09 with Olympians at Elmo's;

The Empire Hotel's bash with its panoramic views

With all of the party coverage, it's amazing that we also managed to fit in a weekend at Bernie's, among other things....

There was the Gotham Lasik Party at Greenhouse, the premiere of "Notorious" for friends of "Biggies", and new TV shows like "True Beauty" hosting their premiere parties.

The Pink Elephant nightlife brand has continued to expand, and recently held their grand opening of Pink Elephant in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We are excited to see what else the team has in store for '09.

We watched as Zac Posen, along with Mindy Grossman, and Les Steiger were honored by the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund, caught up with a few of the most recognized nightlife doormen, and watched Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway's friendly exchanges on the red carpet before seeing them duke it out in their movie "Bride Wars" at the movie’s premiere.

Before the Golden Globes and before the Oscars, there's the New York Film Critics Circle.  We watched winners like Sean Penn, Penelope Cruz, and Anthony Dod Mantle get praised for their work in films from their fans and fellow peers.

One New Yorker that hasn't been getting praise is- Nevan Donahue.  Olivia Palermo's cousin, who is a character on "The City", MTV's new spinoff of "The Hills", was all over the web for his less than gentlemanly behavior.  Could Nevan be the east coast's answer to Brandon Davis?

Beatrice Inn has had quite the run here in NYC.  And, it seems the cozy West Village hot spot has had some competition as of late.  The Ivy at Chloe 81 party has become the latest hipster den, and socials are quickly heading east to pay their respects to the other village.

Nigel Barker hosted an exhibition of photographs and film documenting his time spent in Haiti during the tumultuous spring of '08.  Haiti: Hunger & Hope was held at Milk Gallery and drew a considerable amount of socials with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the Edeyo foundation, providing food and education for underprivileged Haitian children.

Finally, the party of the week belonged to Stephen Sprouse. The pioneer of some of the 80's most enduring fashion statements such as day-glo and graffiti print caught the eye of trendsetters like Andy Warhol, Debbie Harry and Marc Jacobs to name a few.  He may no longer be with us, but his spirit is more than alive.  Thursday night, fans came to celebrate the artists and packed in the walls of the Louis Vuitton store, and later the Bowery Ballroom to pay homage to the legend.
