After nearly a decade of serving as a most delightful West Village spot to grab a slightly sophisticated, slightly sceney, slightly sloppy nightcap, Scottish Gastropub Highlands has announced they will not be reopening their doors post COVID crisis.
Be it their perpetually crowded front room, tartan interiors, or rotating pack of people smoking outside, the neighborhood staple will surely be missed.
Personally, I will forever lovingly remember Highlands as the place where I told my husband and his friend Will not to just hang their coats on a hook under a random bar seat we weren't sitting at, only to return to find them stolen at the end of the night. Is there anything better than being right?
Anyhoo, please consider donating to ROAR (Relief Opportunities for All Restaurants) to help out our beloved, struggling, NYC restaurant community!
